Quantum of Solace might beat Casino Royale at the Box office
Quantum of Solace, the 22nd Bond film, has set itself a hard target to beat as the previous film, Casino Royale, set the record and brought in $594m globally. However the second film does has some advantages, namely the shorter running time, the less than great competiton and the release of the film in the States over the holiday season. As a December 30th 2008, had brought in $537m with a week to run in North America, as opposed to the totalof $594m that Casino Royale brought in.

Although the film is regarded as a poorer cousin to Casino Royale, it is in some ways more "audience-friendly" that Casino Royale, with non-stop action throughout and Daniel Craig flexing his muscles in his second outing as Bond. Like Casino Royale, it is short of the traditional Bond gadgets, but does have a healthier dose. Quantum of Solace also pips another record in that it, on its opening day in the UK, took a staggering £4.94m, which makes it the biggest Friday opening of all time (Friday 31st October). Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire held this record previously. It also brokes another record and became the highest grossing weekend film, making an incredible £15.4million at the UK box office, beating Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
We can be sure of one thing - Daniel Craig will be returning as Bond in his 3rd outing and it looks set to be a very popular movie, again increasing the value of James Bond 007 collectibles and memorabilia.
